1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, accessing, or using JEL UP ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must stop using the App immediately.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
• You must provide a valid Indian mobile phone number for OTP verification.
• You must have a device capable of providing GPS location services.
• Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

3. Account & Authentication

• Accounts are created via one-time password (OTP) sent to your phone number. No traditional password is required.
• You must keep your device and authentication tokens secure. Do not share your login session with others.
• We reserve the right to suspend or deactivate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. How JEL UP Works

JEL UP is a social networking platform for real-world activities. The core experience involves:

1. Activities: Post an intent — a spontaneous Ping or a planned Event — that nearby users can discover and request to join.
2. Join Requests: Hosts review and accept or decline each request. Accepted members become participants.
3. Group Chat: Each activity has one group chat that unlocks for accepted participants and archives when the activity completes.
4. Communities: Local interest groups that host recurring events and have their own member chat.
5. Vibe Checks & Trust: Post-activity feedback and mutual Vibe Ups build each user's trust score and Vibe Network.
6. Visibility: You control whether you are discoverable for nearby activities.

The App requires location access to show nearby activities. Without it, discovery features will be unavailable.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any illegal, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
• Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate other users.
• Send spam, promotional content, or unsolicited messages.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
• Upload obscene, violent, or hateful content as your profile picture or in chat messages.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the App or its APIs.
• Circumvent rate limits, blocks, or security measures.
• Create multiple accounts for abusive purposes.

6. Activities & Join Requests

• Activity titles, descriptions, and messages are subject to automatic content moderation.
• Spontaneous activities (Pings) expire after their set duration or when they start.
• Hosts control who joins: a join request only becomes participation when the host accepts it.
• Hosts may cancel activities; participants may leave before an activity starts. Repeated no-shows affect your trust score.
• You can block a user at any time to stop all future interactions.

7. Chat & Messaging

• Chat exists only inside activities and communities you have joined. You cannot message someone without mutual participation — there are no unsolicited direct messages.
• Messages are stored on our servers and delivered in real time via WebSocket connections.
• Messages pass automatic content moderation, and we may review messages if a user reports abuse.
• Activity chats are archived (read-only) when the activity completes or is cancelled. You can block a user to close any shared chats.

8. Blocking & Safety

• You can block any user at any time. Blocking immediately hides you from the other user and closes any shared chats.
• Blocked users cannot join your activities, see your plans, or contact you.
• If you feel unsafe, block the user and contact us at the email below. The in-app Emergency SOS can alert nearby users with your live location.

9. Account Deletion

• You may delete your account at any time from within the App.
• Deletion is a soft delete: your account is deactivated, your profile is hidden, and your chats are disabled. Your data is retained for up to 30 days for recovery, after which it may be permanently removed.
• To request immediate permanent deletion, contact us via email.

10. Intellectual Property

• The JEL UP name, logo, design, and code are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
• You retain ownership of the content you create (messages, profile info), but grant us a limited license to store and transmit it as part of the service.
• You must not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

11. Disclaimers

• JEL UP is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• We are not responsible for the behavior of other users. Meetings facilitated through JEL UP are at your own risk — exercise caution when interacting with people you don't know.
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Delhi, India.
